Our Story
Al Baronian started his career in the financial services industry in the early fifties, by the mid sixties he had been appointed youngest major member firm managers in Hartford Connecticut.
But his foundation in customer service and business began long before that.
Al was a first generation American, his family having come to America just after the turn of the century in 1908. They settled in Thompsonville Connecticut where the family were originally mill workers.
Soon, though, the family opened an ice cream parlor and candy store, and named it Baronian Brothers. It was in that store that Al learned all about serving the public, while working for his father and uncle.
That service became a life-long commitment, and one that was engendered in his founding of Investors Services of Hartford in 1975.
And today it remains a commitment of his son Jim Baronian as well. Jim came to the business in 1987 after graduating from Trinity College. Like his Dad, Jim learned the business from the bottom up.
Serving as a clerk, filing and recording trades in the posting books, until passing his Series 7 examination in 1989. Jim has been at Investors Services ever since, except for a short hiatus in the early nineteen nineties, when he received his MBA in Finance from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia
In all the family commitment to client services has remained unchanged throughout the almost fifty year history of the firm. A fact you can count on when you invest with us.
